What will you learn in the workshop?
In the interactive BaseCamp workshop, participants will learn the basic principles of climate change, its impacts, and possible solutions. The workshop explores the connections between technology, science, and everyday decisions that shape the planet’s future. Through a game-based approach, participants practise strategic thinking, teamwork, and responding to misinformation and negative attitudes. The workshop not only builds knowledge but also inspires active engagement in climate protection and sustainable development.
What activities will we be working on?
In the first two hours, participants dive into a board game where they become members of a science and technology team building a research base for studying climate change. Over five rounds, they collaboratively discover new information, plan strategies, and seek solutions to real environmental challenges. This is followed by a reflection session, reviewing the game, assessing the insights gained, and discussing long-term, comprehensive approaches to climate protection. In the extended version, participants also explore specific strategies currently used to address climate challenges.
More Information
The BaseCamp workshop is primarily designed for first- and second-year secondary school students, but it is also suitable for advanced ninth-grade pupils and adult participants. It typically lasts three class periods (four for the extended version). An experienced instructor leads the session, and all game materials are provided on site.
